Times Higher Education Latin America Ranking – Illustration: THE
The British consultancy Times Higher Education (THE) released today, January 22, the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025, which classifies universities according to areas of knowledge.
Out of the 11 areas evaluated, USP was among the top 100 universities in five: Law (ranked 58th), Education (ranked 67th), Medicine and Health (ranked 86th), Arts and Humanities (ranked 98th), and Social Sciences (ranked 97th).
American universities occupy the top position in nine areas, losing the lead in the areas of Computer Science and Medicine and Health, which are led by Oxford University. Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were the institutions that won the most areas: three each.
In this seventh edition, THE by Subject has updated its methodology, using the same 18 indicators used in the world ranking, adapted for each area of knowledge. The indicators are grouped into the broad areas of teaching (learning environment), research environment (volume, income, and reputation), research quality (strength, excellence, and influence of research), international perspective (staff, students, and research), and industry (income and patents).
More information on the ranking can be found on the page of USP’s Office for the Management of Academic Performance Indicators.
