The Office of the President launched the 2022–2026 Management Report, which presents the projects and actions developed by USP president, Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Junior, and vice-president Maria Arminda do Nascimento Arruda during their leadership of the University’s administration, concluded on January 25. The publication was prepared by USP’s Office of Social Communication (SCS).
The opening of the report presents USP’s Mission, Vision, and Values, as well as the University’s 12 Strategic Objectives. The publication is divided into nine chapters that address the strategic areas of action of the administration over the past four years: “Quality and Inclusive Education,” “Excellence in Research and Innovation,” “Social Commitment,” “Institutional Assessment,” “Internationalization Actions,” “Sustainable USP,” “People-Centered Management,” “University accountability,” and “Infrastructure for Teaching, Research, and Outreach”.
“We have reached the end of our term of office with the feeling that our mission has been fulfilled. To be president is to hold a temporary mandate on behalf of a permanent institution—greater than any one of us and guided by its social commitment to knowledge and the public good”, Carlotti pointed out.
According to Maria Arminda, “the initiatives carried out during this period were characterized by the combination of a threefold challenge: on the one hand, meeting the expectations of the USP community that embraced the proposals of our administration; on the other, responding to issues that arose in the course of the administration; and finally, creating projects that are relevant to the University. In other words, the Office of the vice-president was confronted with problems of various kinds that lay beyond the institution’s familiar agenda, even though that agenda was itself widely recognized as being of great scope”.
