The Provost’s Office for Research and Innovation (PRPI) at USP has launched the 2026 call for proposals for supporting teams in international scientific competitions, aimed at teams composed of students from the university who wish to participate in competitions abroad. Applications must be submitted by responsible faculty members through the Atena system by April 28. The full call for proposals is available online.
The initiative aims to provide partial financial support for the participation of teams in international scientific competitions in different areas of knowledge. A total of R$150,000 will be allocated, with a limit of up to R$30,000 per proposal. The funds may be used for expenses such as travel, per diem, registration fees, purchase of supplies, and other costs directly related to competition activities.
Proposals must be submitted by active USP faculty members, who act as team leaders or tutors. Required documents include a description of the competition, a project summary, students’ academic records, and a detailed budget. Applications undergo validation by the Research and Innovation Committees of each unit before proceeding to PRPI review.
Selection will consider criteria such as the international relevance of the competition, the academic merit of participants, the quality and originality of the project, as well as the adequacy of the budget. The call for proposals also provides for the promotion of diversity within teams, in alignment with the university’s inclusion policies. The result is scheduled for May 18.
After participating in the competitions, teams must submit financial accountability and an academic report within up to 60 days. More information is available in the call for proposals, and applications must be submitted through the Atena system.
