Applications are open until May 15 for the joint research call of the University Global Partnership Network (UGPN), a network formed by USP, the University of Surrey (United Kingdom), and North Carolina State University (United States).
In the 2026 edition, priority will be given to proposals addressing next-generation energy sources; energy storage and the built environment; and energy access and energy policies. Proposals must involve at least two of the three universities that make up the network and must have as coordinators one faculty member from each institution.
Approved projects will receive funding of up to US$10,000 per partner institution involved.
Among the selection criteria are the promotion of clean and reliable energy solutions, the development of interdisciplinary research collaborations, the alignment with at least two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the involvement of early-career faculty members.
Proposals may be submitted until May 15 through the form available on the UGPN website. To access the application form, the applicant must enter their first name, last name, and institutional email address. They will then be directed to the “Members” menu of the UGPN website, without the need for password validation.
Each project must be submitted by only one of the faculty members responsible for the project, ither from USP, the University of Surrey, or NC State.

Created in 2011, the University Global Partnership Network is a university network formed by USP, North Carolina State University (United States), and the University of Surrey (United Kingdom), with the goal of promoting researcher exchange and collaboration in the development of research related to topics of global interest.
One of the network’s main initiatives is the maintenance of the Research Collaboration Fund, through which partner universities promote joint research in priority areas such as environment and sustainability, genetics and behavior, international trade, and mathematical modeling.
Since its creation, the fund has supported 108 multilateral research projects – comprising 34 trilateral and eight quadrilateral agreements – representing an investment exceeding US$2.5 million.
