The document was part of the program for the commemorative event for World Environment Day, held by the State Secretariat for the Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics (SEMIL), in Villa-Lobos Park, with the participation of different Government portfolios, and attended by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas.
The Agenda SP+Verde Summit will happen on November 4 and 5 and aims to integrate the various sectors of society in debates on sustainable development. The event will feature five debate stages, four of which will be themed around Green Finance, Climate Justice, Resilience and the Future of Cities, and Energy Transition and Decarbonization. The schedule of lectures and debates, which will be announced soon, will include important names in national and international climate research, as well as representatives of the participating public bodies and entities, in more than 20 hours of content, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., over two days. Other themed spaces are also planned, focusing on the Circular Economy, Technology, and Innovation. There will also be a sponsor activation area and a cultural schedule with an emphasis on valuing São Paulo’s culture.
An open-to-the-public event connected to the SP+Verde Agenda movement will be held at USP from November 6 to 9. The goal is to involve the population in a set of themes related to sustainable development. Entitled Bora Preservar – Vozes e Raízes do Amanhã, its cornerstones are Conscious Consumption, Sustainable Agriculture, and Solidary Cooperation. The schedule includes lectures, debates, sustainability workshops, and musical, cultural, and gastronomic activities.
“We are launching the SP+Verde Agenda on this World Environment Day in a spirit of cooperation”. From this productive dialogue, which will have its high point in November at a major event in Villa-Lobos Park, we want to establish the partnerships and connections necessary for us to take another leap towards sustainable development together,” Semil’s secretary, Natália Resende, said.
“The Secretariat for the Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics is doing revolutionary work. And we’ll recognize that in a few years’ time. This recognition will come because what is being planted is very consistent. When our State Environmental Plan was drawn up in 2023, we defined the cornerstones with which we would work. Two years later, we realize how far we’ve come. We’ve swapped talk for action. We’re committed and accomplishing things, sometimes quietly, but we’re delivering results,” the governor said.
The USP’s president celebrated including the environmental list in the State of São Paulo’s agenda. “In recent years, USP has dedicated a lot to innovation and sustainability, so that we can respond to society. The university is ranked fifth in the world for its sustainability projects, such as substituting fossil fuels, producing SAF (sustainable aviation fuel), and carbon capture through agriculture,” he said.
The event was also attended by State Secretaries Renato Feder (Education), Vahan Agopyan (Science, Technology and Innovation), Marília Marton (Culture, Economy and Creative Industry) and Guilherme Derrite (Public Security), as well as the Civil Defense Office of São Paulo’s head, lieutenant colonel Rinaldo de Araújo Monteiro, the Forestry Foundation’s president, Mario Mantovani, members of parliament and other authorities.
